Sceau de l’Ange offers an intense universe of progressive metal playing with emotions and their contrasts. This sophisticated yet accesible music is adorned with a female voice of diverse colors, going from the softest to the most beastial tones. It delivers lyrics in French, intriguing and dreamlike and of which the most characteristic feature is to favour musicality as well as mystery. In short, a project away from trends, creative and original, ready to take you on a journey!

After a first album, “Phénomènes”, released by the label M&O Music in November 2011, the band did it again with “Ascendance”, released in March 2017. They entrust the mixing and mastering to Jamie King of The Basement Recording NC and partner with C.H.S Prod for the production of 2 music videos, which artistic esthetic is personal.

Between 2017 and 2018, promo concerts give life to this new opus and several live videos are uploaded.

Today, the band continue their promotion on stage and explore new projects with the composition of an upcoming 3rd opus…

The origins

In 2004, the 4 founding members (Thomas, Raphaël, Florian and Céline) got together and chose the current name to represent both the dreamlike and intense qualities they wished for the project. From then on, they recorded their first self-made recordings which enabled them to play their first gigs. Besides, the band kept refining their style : the heavy metal of the beginnings evolved and gave way to darker moods, both atmospheric and striking, and inspired by many influences, most notably progressive metal.

The first self-produced demo : Une case en moins

In 2007, the band started the recording of their first self-produced demo which would only come out in the fall of 2008. The reviews for this first disc were positive while Sceau de l’Ange met receptive audiences during the 2009 concerts thus encouraging the band to begin writing their first album.

First album : Phénomènes

After having worked on it for 2 years, it was in November 2011 that Phénomènes came out, a contrasted first album on the theme of emotional phenomenon and their complex beauty. The disc hit the racks (Fnac, Virgin…) and also came out digitally (Believe, iTunes, Deezer…) on the label M&O Music. The production was given the attention it deserved thanks to the collaboration of Brett Caldas-Lima (Kalisia, WhyZdom, Auspex, To-Mera) for mixing and mastering and of American illustrator Travis Smith (Opeth, Iced Earth, Katatonia, Eluveitie…) for the artwork. Moreover, the band played a series of concerts around France for the promotion of this first album.

Second album : Ascendance

Armed with that first studio experience, Sceau de l’Ange started in 2012 the composition of a second album, still faithful to their open-mindedness and eclecticism. « Ascendance » is released in March 2017 and is well received by Progressive Metal lovers and the specialised press. The mixing and mastering of the album have been entrusted to Jamie King (The Basement Recording NC), an experienced American producer, notably Between The Buried And Me’s producer of choice. In parallel, 2 music videos (« Epineuse Saison » et « Urgente Théurgie ») with a dark and artistic esthetic are directed by C.H.S Prod (Smash Hit Combo, Dagoba, L’Esprit du Clan…). In the meantime, Florian Jacquet is replaced by Damien Bornet on drums. With this new team assembled, the band plays about ten promotional concerts, giving life to these new tracks. A number of these concerts are filmed and uploaded to the band’s Youtube channel.

Today, the band continue their promotion on stage and explore new projects with the composition of an upcoming 3rd opus…
